This is an engine only: nothing from the original games is included. You copy the game files from your own copy (the GOG releases) to a microSD card, and the board reads them from there.
Early development. The board finds your games on the card, shows what is inside their files and runs Curse of the Azure Bonds' own scripts in a Play Test (walking, events, text, pictures, the journal). There is no party, combat or saving yet.
Install
This browser can't talk to USB devices. Open this page in Chrome or Edge on a computer to install.
- Use Chrome or Edge on a computer (Windows, Mac, Linux or a Chromebook). Installing needs the browser to reach USB, which Chrome and Edge can do and most other browsers (Firefox, Safari, phones) can't.
- Plug the board into the computer with a USB cable that carries data (some cables only charge).
- Pick your board in the list below and click Install. Choose the serial port that appears. None on Windows? Install the CH340 USB driver and try again.
- Wait for "Installation complete", then press the board's reset button (or unplug it and plug it back in).

Putting your games on the SD card
- Format a microSD card as FAT32 (cards up to 32 GB are FAT32 out of the box).
- Make a folder called GOLDBOX at the top of the card.
- Copy each game's whole install folder from your GOG games into it, just as it is, for example GOLDBOX/Pool of Radiance, GOLDBOX/Curse of the Azure Bonds, GOLDBOX/Secret of the Silver Blades, GOLDBOX/Pools of Darkness. Any folder name with the game's name in it works.
- Put the card in the board and power it up. The first time, it scans the card and lists what it finds (with a journal PDF this takes a few minutes); after that it starts straight away. Added or changed games? Tap Rescan Card.
The Adventurer's Journal
The games tell you to read numbered entries in the printed journal ("you record it in journal entry 31"). Copy the journal PDF that came with your GOG game into the game's folder on the card: when the board scans the card it cuts every entry out of your PDF, and shows the entry whenever the game mentions it. Curse of the Azure Bonds' journal works now; the other games' follow. Nothing from the journals is part of this site or the firmware.
After installing
- Touch calibration runs on the first start: tap the tip of each corner arrow. To redo it later: Settings → Recalibrate Touch, or hold the BOOT button while the board powers up.
- Colors look wrong? Settings: Invert Colors if colors look like a photo negative, Swap Red/Blue if red and blue are swapped. The board remembers it.
- Blank or garbled screen on a 2.8" board? It has the other display driver: install the other 2.8" version.

Please open an issue with your board and what you saw. Or send the board's logs: on the board, Settings → Logs → Send Logs (or the Game menu's Logs tab while playing) shows a QR code; your phone's camera opens it as a page that emails them.
